THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS EXECUTIVE CHAMBER STATE HOUSE, BOSTON March i, 1907 MR. F. ALEXANDER CHANDLER, Secretary New England Hardware Dealers' Association, 36 Federal Street, Boston. DEAR SIR: I thank you most heartily for your very kind notification in regard to the coming convention of the hardware dealers of the United States in Boston during the week of June 17. It will give me the greatest possible pleasure to extend the greetings of the Commonwealth to them at that time. At no season of the year could a visit to Massachusetts be more appropriately paid than during Bunker Hill Week. I can only assure you that the Commonwealth will gladly cooperate in every possible way to make the delegates feel that Massachusetts is a place where every American should feel at home and happy. With cordial personal regards, believe me, Faithfully yours, CURTIS GUILD, JR. CITY OF BOSTON OFFICE OF THE MAYOR March 7, 1907 To THE DELEGATES AND OFFICERS OF THE NATIONAL HARDWARE CONVENTION On behalf of the citizens of Boston it affords me great pleasure to extend to you a most cordial welcome to our city. It is very gratifying to receive you at this time for the reason that our citizens are, and for some time will be, engaged in a very active, and we hope fruitful, move- ment for greater business activity, for broadening of trade, and increase in business. The hardware business forms no small part of our com- merce ; the dealings in this city alone in hardware aggregating last year almost seven million of dollars ($7,000,000). Your presence will doubtless serve as an incentive to our merchants and of material held to us in our efforts to go forward. I am confident that you will enjoy your visit, as Boston is an ideal convention city. Possessing many landmarks of the Colonial and Revolutionary periods, — such as the old North Church, Faneuil Hall, State House, Bunker Hill Monument, — a most beautiful park system

Questions this record answers

Each answer is composed only from fields this record carries, and names the attestation for what it says. A question the record cannot answer from its own attested content is not asked here. Where a boundary is described as official it was promulgated by an authority with the power to draw it and is not amended by anything on the vernacular layer; where it is described as vernacular it is held by attestation alone and amends no official boundary.
